Swim course: ¾ Mile

Surrounded by a million-and-a-half acres of National Forest and 12,000-foot-high mountains, Lake Catamount has been the location of Steamboat Triathlons for the last 4 years. Once you make your way through the majestic canyon of Rabbit Ears pass, you will see Catamount on your left sparkle in the sunlight among Yampa Valley's most picturesque locations. This 4,000-acre recreational preserve is dedicated to the continuation and enhancement of a 150-year-old tradition of ranching. The ¾ mile swim will be a water start, waist deep, and you will be guided by buoys on the course. This is a wetsuit-legal race, with anticipated water temperatures from 66 to 70 degrees.
